The implementation of agriculture in large cities is a model that is growing, especially in developing countries. The population is growing rapidly in cities due to phenomena that promote displacement from rural areas to capital cities. (Sustainable urban agriculture in developing countries. A review. De Bon, H. Parrot, L. & Moustier, P. 2010) This generates a high demand for food and other necessities such as health services, education, housing, employment.

Urban agriculture implements most of the Sustainable Development Goals. It contributes to the reduction of hunger, poverty reduction, with a good sustainable plan contributes to the conservation of the environment and air purification in cities, generation of income and even benefits in people's health. From the point of view of gardening, it is used as a therapy with various health benefits. Studies confirm reductions in depression, anxiety, and body mass index, as well as increases in life satisfaction, quality of life, and sense of community (Gardening is beneficial for health: A meta-analysis, Masashi Soga, Review article 2017)
